Karachi, The Sindh High Court was informed on Friday that the Federal Urdu University was not recognized by the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) for the purpose of legal education and any degree awarded by it could not be recognized for enrolment of an advocate.
Chief Justic Mushir Alam was heading a division bench and were seized when they heard that a law graduate from Federal Urdu University seeking enrollment as an advocate.
Iftakhar Javed Qazi from Pakistan Bar Council submitted that Urdu University was awarding unrecognized degrees. He also stated that cases from such universities were already dismissed by the Lahore High Court.
More he stated that the issue of recognition of the degree is still pending with PBC and Higher Education Commission. The hearing was put to the date to be later fixed by the bench.
These issues were noticed by the bench to the home secretary, the Rangers director-general, the provincial and city police chiefs, the officer in charge of the Special Investigation Unit and a director of the Federal Investigation Agency in a petition seeking the locality of man.
A petitioner Nusrat Ara who is the resident of Landhi submitted that her husband Hassan Dilawar was arrested on the airport by FIA when he was traveling abroad. She tried to approach the local area police to know about her husband but all in vain. Notices are issued by the bench to the respondents for the date to be announced later by court office.
