Lahore, The Ewing Literary Society went to Kinnaird College for Essay Writing Competition organized on December 07, 2012 and won third prize. The essay writing competition was arranged by Kinnaird College’s Political Science Club in collaboration with IPAIDABRIBE, in regard to the International Anti-corruption Day.

The topic for the competition was “Is corruption the price we pay for democracy?”

Retired Justice Nasira Iqbal was the Chief Guest for the event. In her address to the audience, she condemned corruption and told the youth that it is their responsibility to root this disease out.

Government Post Graduate College, Jhung organized an All Pakistan Punjabi Takara 2012 on 1 December, 2012.

Teams of various schools and universities from all over Pakistan arrived and participated in the event. More than 50 institutes participated in the event.

The grueling competition commenced at 9 am in the morning, where speakers enthusiastically discussed and argued topics of global importance. From Forman Christian College, Hamza Mustafa (Punjabi) spoke and won 3rd Position as a Punjabi declaimer.

FCC Formanite Music Society organized its first ever Open Mic Night on 7 December 2012 at E-025, which was attended by baccalaureate students and some faculty members.

It was a musical evening where musicians from all over the university, who specialized in various music sorts came together as the Formanite ‘House Band’ to create innovative deliveries of popular songs. The event was made possible through the hardworking work of the society’s management. Ali Abbas (Society President), Shahrukh Sherwani (General Secretary/Director) and Hamza Butt (Event Manager/Directors) advertised for auditions to recruit a diverse selection of musicians to constitute the House Band.

The vocalists specialized in both eastern and western styles; instrumentals covered a wide repertoire including acoustic/bass guitars, keyboards, harmonium, violin, tabla, and Turkish drum (Djembe). The management organized various practice sessions where songs were chosen as to reflect different tastes prevalent within Pakistani society, namely eastern folk/classical, qawali, Western and Eastern contemporary pop. Innovative song structures were created by fusing together the aforementioned styles.
