Toba Tek Singh: Imran Asim is defying his disability by keeping himself busy with his business of rent-a-book.
Mr Asim, 38-years-old, of the Eidgah area, was in grade 5th when he suffered backbone pain. In the resultant surgery, his both legs were paralyzed.
After that, he had to leave the school, however he did not leave book reading.
As books became his best friends, he thought of an idea to earn money from lending books to the people in his neighborhood. Alongside, he started binding books, mostly textbooks of the students of that area.

He says that he charges Rs20 for a book that he give on rent for a day. He said when he started his library; he was encouraged by his father Haji Abdullah, brothers as well as by his sisters.
His library has a huge collection of good books on fiction, religion, history as well as literature.
When he started running the library years ago, Mr Asim says, he used to have lots of consumers. Still his dedicated customers keep coming to him when there were new arrivals. He said he had the mission to continue the library until his last breath.
His library is the only one in the area as there is no other government or private library.
