LAHORE: In connection with 17 th “Book Week” celebrations in Iran a special ceremony was arranged at Punjab University Main Library Iran Information Center where Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujhaid Kamran was chief guest while Iranian counsel general Saeed Kharazi, Director General Iran Cultural Centre Dr Abbass Famori, Principal PU Oriental College Prof Dr Mazhar Moen, Chairman Department of Persian Moen Nizami, Dr Akram Shah and other teacher were also present.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Kamran said that only knowledge made human being superior then animals and other creatures of the world and knowledge comes from books. The creator of universe blessed man with book. Prophets brought knowledge in the forms of holy books. The first revelation of Quran is also about knowledge. Human mind broadened through reading and it brought man out from dark to light. He said that unfortunately in our country we were not giving importance to book. This ‘Book week' will divert peoples' attention towards books. Iranian Counsel General Saeed Kharazi said that book exhibition is arranged every year at Iran and the objective of this 17 th Books Weak was to promote knowledge. Vice-Chancellor and Counsel General visited various stalls at Iran Information Center and showed their interned in several books.
