Karachi: After a much delay and while still withholding 95 results of students, Board of Intermediate Education and Secondary Education Karachi (BIEK) announced the results of HSSC part 2 science pre-medical, medical technology and home economics group on Monday.

According to Mohammad Imran Khan Chishti, this year the passing percentage of pre-medical students remained at 52.78, which show improvement as compared to the passing percentage of last year. Total 21,106 candidates appeared for the exams, 4,166 male candidates and 16,940 female candidates appeared in the exams. Almost 11,139 students, 1,776 male candidates and 9,363 female candidates passed the exam.

All the top 10 pre-medical positions, among which there was a tie for the 2nd position, were clinched by female candidates. The controller of exams said that though 95 BIEK exam results had been withheld owing to a continuing investigation by the Anti-Corruption Establishment, they expected to announced those results soon.

Three students of PECHS Government College for Women clinched 1st and 2nd positions. Asiya Khalid grabbed first position by obtaining 992 marks out of 1100 marks whereas Marva Tanveer and Hiba Khalid shared second position with 991 marks each. However, third position was clicked by Rimsha Imran of St Lawrence Government Girls Degree College.

On the other hand, Noorulain Anwer grabbed first position with 1,020 marks out of total of 1,200 marks in home economics group. Hibah Masood and Aymin Nadeem shared second position with 988 marks each whereas Fatima Ikram Zuberi stood third by obtaining 982 marks. All the candidates are the aspirants of Ra’ana Liaquat Ali Khan Government College of Home Economics.

Just 3 candidates appeared for the medical technology exam and all three passed and for that the passing percentage remained at 100%.

The chairperson of BIEK Mohammad Akhtar Ghori said there was a need to changeround the syllabus. He furthermore said that wanted to see the standards of the board as well as its improved staff.

Director General of the National Accountability Bureau, Sindh, (R) Col Siraj Naeem was the chief guest on the ceremony that was organized in honor of position holders. Dr Ishrat ul Ibad awarded the position holders along with gold medals whereas Rs100, 000 were given to the first position holder, Rs50, 000 to the second and Rs30, 000 to the third position holder.
