Karachi, There is a school in Karachi where the students from unprivileged or rather I should say the children having poor family background can study by paying just 1 Rs to the school. The Amal-e-Danish School was founded by Parveen Rao (The Principal) 11 years ago at Khuda ki Basti in Karachi. More than 700 students’ boys and girls study in morning and evening shifts hence they have to pay only one rupee.
When it is asked from the Principal that why do they charge only one rupee as school fee, she replied, “I just wanted from the children not to feel deprived or think that they study free because they study and pay fee whether it is a rupee or more than this, and children don’t know that what is 1, 100 or 1 lac, they only think that they are studying after paying fee”.
A Four Dimensional Education Model has been adopted in the school.
- First every child should not be deprived of the basic right of getting education just because the fact that their parent can’t afford to educate them.
- 2nd, the children who didn’t study for any reason in the past and now are grown much bigger, should not hesitate to learn as they are provided fast education and put them on the fast learning track and they are moved to the next classes.
- These are not only the children who need education, the parents also should learn how to live in the world and survive in the modern world, so an adult education initiative has been taken.
- 4th and last one is that when a student completes his/her education, he/she must teach in the school for a while, that is “Study & Teach a Child” as well.
The branches of the school system have been introduced in Bhullarwan Sargodha, Khannian Kashmir and one in suburban of Lahore.
