Allama Iqbal Quiz Competition at GCU

Lahore,  The Government College University (GCU) Lahore Ravians Quiz Society conducted 1st Inter Departmental Allama Iqbal Quiz Competition at the university's Bukhari Auditorium, to pay tribute to the Shair-e-Mashriq and Ravian Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

Chief Justice (R) Javed Iqbal, the son of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, graced the occasion as chief guest while Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman was also present. As many as 25 teams participated in the competition. Statistics Department won this competition whereas Persian Department and Intermediate Studies stood 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Talking to Ravians, former Chief Justice Javed Iqbal called upon the youth to understand the message of Allama Iqbal.

He said that Iqbal's whole life and his works are essentially proposed to inspire the young Muslims of the Subcontinent, it is therefore necessary for you to understand his works in true spirit.

University of Nottingham and GC University Lahore will collaborate in various fields of research development and education. It was agreed at a meeting of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman with University of Nottingham, Malaysia Campus Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Christine Ennew who invited him to discuss and explore possibilities of academic and research collaboration between both the universities. GCU Academic Planning and External Links Director Ms. Fauzia Shaheen and Management Studies Department Chairperson Najaf Yawar Khan were also present.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman said GCU was rapidly expanding its academic and research avenues and 20 new postgraduate programs were initiated in the last one year, while its research output had significantly increased in the international journals.

He said that the University had very active research and academic collaboration agreements with University of Bonn, Germany and Turkish universities.  He said that GCU was looking forward for active foreign collaboration and funding for its faculty development programme and research projects.
