All Private School Associations today has given the deadline of one week more to the government and announced end strike against the Punjab Education Authority Bill passed by the provincial assembly one week ago.

However, the assocation has threatened the government to shut down the schools permanently if the issue will not solve. 

While addressing the press conference, the chairperson of Private Schools Federation Kashif Mirza has announced to open schools from tomorrow after 2-day strike that ended today (Wednesday).

As, on Sunday, Punjab schools announced two-day strike against Education Authority Bill.

Kashif Mirza said the Governor of Punjab has given us surety to resolve the issue. But, if our demands will not met in one week, then we would go for strike for the indefinite period of time.

During his address, Mirza said that the federation does not want to strike at the cost of the education and future of aspirants. Though, the federation is protesting for its right.

He said; it is expected that Governor Rafique Rajwana would think on the demands forwarded by the Punjab Private Federation.

The schools across the province remained closed on 8th and 9th of March 2016 as a result of protest against the Education Authority Bill. This bill was passed in Punjab Assembly on 27th February 2016, permits for only 5 % increase in school fee yearly. But, the owners of schools, wants at least ten percent increase in school fee.

This law also restricts the admission fee deposited to schools to a maximum of the monthly tuition fee. However, the Disobedience of the law can result in fine up to 2 million Rupees.

It is important to mention here that, as a result of this strike at least 97,000 private schools in Punjab remained closed on March 8th and 9th, 2016.

According to the owners of Private schools, the government passed the bill without taking the association in confidence.

On the other hand, all the parents have condemned the government for being unable to resolve this issue and negotiate along with federation. They demanded the government to discuss with the schools to avoid any interruption in education of their children.

As a result of this two-day strike, a large network of prominent schools remained closed for two days.
