Islamabad: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will have its own educational TV channel till the end of this year to provide multimedia support to its aspirants in their educational chases.

All the necessary to this effect has been completed and now they will legally approach to PEMRA for its permission, said Vice Chancellor of AIOU Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui while heading-over the Task-Group’s quarterly-review meeting of Institute of Educational Technology (IET).

He moreover said that it is the part of the continuous efforts of university of providing quality and accelerated education to their aspirants through smart use of electronic network.

He appreciated the IET department for its efforts in organizing multimedia academic programmes and expanding radio network of FM in Pakistan. Presently FM radio is going live from the main campus from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. along with the variety of educational programmes.

VC of AIOU said that FM’s radio services will be available in 7 regional offices crosswise country till the end of this year. They are also in process of launching short-courses for the professionals of media.

A complete plan has also been made for online-conducting of PhD and Phil programmes. The apsirants will get electronic version of their study stuff. Assignments will also be received and assessed accordingly, he said.
