According to a press release, Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), Islamabad will meet the target of bring into being eight high-quality research journals at the end of this year 2015, as part of its exertions of bringing about qualitative enhancement in its complete academic pursuits.

AIOU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Shahid Siddiqui during addressing a prize-distribution ceremony held at Gordon College said that by this time four have been published whereas the rest brand new journals are still under process. The prizes were distributed among the winners of speech and ‘naat’ competitions held between the students of the university in connection along with the Independence Day.

This function was organized by the AIOU’s Rawalpindi Region. A science exhibition was also organized on the occasion, in which the projects related to science, developed by the students of the university were exhibited.

 Dr. Shahid Siddiqui said that the AIOU will be settled like a Research-based University to make knowledge as well as bring innovations in the educational work to oblige the society as well as to assist the government to meet its socio-economic targets.

He said that, so as to promote the research culture in Pakistan, a special fund has also been made to grant those who come up along with the creative work in the research field. In this linking, there is also a special motivation package for the faculty member of AIOU.

He moreover added that, in future, the university staff will stringently follow a timeline for sending the books to the aspirants as well as proclaiming the results.
