Ahmed Farooq honored for academic achievement

Islamabad: Minister of State for Federal Education Engineer Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman on Tuesday gave away the certificate of academic achievement to Ahmed Farooq for obtaining the highest aggregate marks in the world for the first year of the LLB (Hons) degree of University of London International Programmes.

Baligh Ur Rehman, in a meeting along with University of London delegation, appreciated the student saying that, “I feel proud to present this certificate to you.”

He said this was an honour for the country. “We have huge talent in Pakistan; have outstanding students, who are not just making us proud at nationally but internationally as well.”

Minister of State for Federal Education discussed the education system as well as quality of education in Pakistan along with delegation.

He moreover said an education park was being set up in Punjab and invited the University of London to start a full-fledged campus there.

University of London should utilize their Pakistani Alumni as a platform to provide more scholarships to Pakistani students.

While addressing on the event, Director Undergraduate Law Programmes Simson Askey said the University of London had undoubtedly best students from Pakistan and they were very proud of them all.

He further more said that Pakistan had a different image in the outside world however during their visit they saw a quite different image of the country. “We were really impressed by the motorway as well as road system of Pakistan, food was amazing here and Islamabad was one of the beautiful cities of the world” he added.

The Vice Chancellor of University of London Mary Stiasny said they enjoyed their visit to Pakistan and they will really like to come back again.

Secretary Education Muhammad Humanyun Khan, Additional Secretary Dr Allah Bakhsh Malik, Joint Education Advisor Rafiq Tahir, as well as Country Head University of London Saad Wasim also attended the meeting.
