54 cheating cases registered by BIEK investigation teams during SSC exams 2016

Karachi: It has been almost a week since the annual exams for academic year 2016 of Board of Secondary Education, Karachi (BSEK), started and total 54 cases of cheating have been registered by the investigation teams of the board.

The chairperson of Karachi board, Anwer Ahmed Zai while talking to media said that “We have arrested the helpers in all the cases and gave them to the police”. He moreover said that the officials found involved in cheating were also take out from their posts.

“It is not possible to stop the decades-old cheating mafia in just one day however the arrangements we have made will stop it definitely shortly” said Zai.

The head of BIEK also visited the schools together with commissioner Asif Hyder Shah and Karachi Additional IG Mushtaq Mahar.

The commissioner during his visit to the various examination centres said that “Copy culture must be exterminated and the fair system should be implemented in examination centres during annual exams”.

The commissioner also valued the efforts of investigation teams, formulated in association along with police and the officials of bard, and said that the government has worked hard to certify that exams take place on time and without any smashes.

He said that district investigation teams together with the invigilators are maintaining the system and are not letting cheating occur in the exam procedure, which is a great success. He also added that “All the arrangements from making teams to offering security are made just to provide ease to aspirants during their exams and to avoid any mishap at examination centres”.

In the meantime, Zai said to conduct the annual exams on time along with the complete arrangements is just possible together with the assistance of government-led teams at the centres, which are controlling the law and order situation.

He said that the step of district management to close down the photocopy shops outside the centres during exam hours assisted in bring down the cheating rate.

In spite of the arrangements and security checks, few teachers complained that they are receiving intimidating messages from people who are being banded from helping the aspirants in cheating, said Zai.

The principal of Government Boy’s Secondary School, Orangi Town, complained that he is receiving life threats over stopping the helpers from helping aspirants in cheating at examination centres. While commenting on these complaints, Zai said that the police are arresting these people and taking the strict action against them.
