Karachi, The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) declared that over 250 students were found involved in cases of using unfair means during the annual examinations of the Higher Secondary School Certificate, Part-I and II, 2011.
Chairman BIEK Anwar Ahmad said that a committee consisting of senior teachers and educationists reviewed these cases and submitted their recommendations to the Board.
The committee, after reexamining the materials used for cheating attached with the answer booklets of the suspected students, suggested punishments for the students. Each and every accused candidate had the chance to appear in front of the committee and clear its position.
At least 14 students have been banded to appear in the exams for two years, while 17 candidates would not appear in the exams for one year. The results of 152 students have been cancelled, while papers of 66 candidates found guilty of cheating have been cancelled. These students would be allowed to appear in the supplementary examinations, Chairman said.
Additionally, the committee found that evidences presented against 13 students were insufficient. The committee asked the BIEK to recheck the answer sheets of such candidates.
