11 universities join hands to award scholarships

Lahore, The memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed by the representative of 11 universities across the country to provide scholarships to needy and poor talented students. The agreement was signed at Lahore University of Management Sciences.

The agreement is also an initiative of National Outreach Program (NOP) at LUMS. It provides financial support to LUMS students for the continuation of higher education. Under this agreement needy and poor talented students will be able to get funds. Representative of different universities joined the meeting and agreed to award scholarship to students to raise the standards of education.

The agreement was signed by the representative of Balochistan University of Information Technology, Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology, Gomal University, Karakoram International University, Gilgit; Institute of Management Sciences Peshawar, Lasbela University of Agriculture, Namal College; University of Bahalwapur, Institute of Business Administration, Sukkur; University of Haripur and University of Swat . LUMS will also be a part of this project.

The initiative was taken by LUMS Vice Chancellor Sohail Naqvi and will provide a link to students of 11 universities who are want to acquire higher studies but due to low finance can’t go for it. Students from far flung and deprived areas will be preferred for scholarships and universities will provide financial backup to students. The respective universities will share and developed the curriculum with mutual collaboration.

The MoU will focus on developing and sharing curriculum through collaborative work for the promotion of quality education. Training will be given to respective students for the entrance exams of universities. Workshops and awareness seminars will also be held by the above mentioned universities.
