The Board of Intermediate and secondary Education, Bannu was
established w.e.f. 01-7-1990 as a result of bifurcation of BISE,
Peshawar & have been functioning since then according to
the NWFP Ordinance/Act 1990. The Board is responsible for control,
organization and regulation of education of more than 400 educational
institutions in public as well as private sector.
The Jurisdiction of the Board is consisting of the following
four districts and two Agencies with a total population of 3.5
million and approximately 1 million candidates:
- District Bannu.
- District Lakki Marwat.
- District D.I.Khan.
- District Tank.
- North & South Waziristan Agency.
Initially the Board was set up in the hostel of Govt. Comprehensive
Higher Secondary School , Bannu. However, because of establishment
of N.W.F.P. University of Engineering & Technology Bannu
Campus, the Board office was shifted in May 2002 to a rented
building at Chambali Chowk, Bannu City . At present, the Board
is housed in a hired building with extremely inadequate space
for its functions. With the passage of time candidate population
is likely to increase putting still more pressure on the spaces
required for its functions. The Board is facing severe problem
of shortage of space due to non-availability of a suitable building.
The Board is functioning with total staff of 66 personnel.
On Twenty five (25) Kanals of land in Bannu Township , the
construction work of BISE-Complex is in progress. This building
is not only to provide suitable accommodation and favourable
working conditions to the entire staff presently working in
the Board, but it has been designed, keeping in view the entire
multilateral functions of the Board for the next 50 years. It
is expected to shift to its new location by the end of December
2004. Residential accommodation and Hostels will be provided
in the second phase of the project at a later stage.
