Agricultural University Peshawar Khyber Pukhtunkhwa

OVERVIEW:

The University of Agriculture, Peshawar consistently stands out as one of the best universities in the country. This University is ranked at the 3rd position amongst all 55 Universities and it is the second best university amongst the four agricultural Universities in Pakistan. It offers a wide variety of social cultural, curricular and co-curricular opportunities to agriculture students.

The university is a corporate body and thus it is delivering instructions, trainings, research and outreach; in agriculture, animal husbandry and other such disciplines of learning, based on its own fundamental principles and authorities.

The University entails five Faculties with 26 departments and 3 institutes. The University offers graduate, post graduate and Ph.D. degrees in all disciplines of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences, Rural Development, Rural Sociology and Bio-technology. Moreover, the University is also offering graduate and post graduate degrees in Management Sciences, Information Technology and Computer Sciences.

Above 50 PhDs are graduated from this university, yet, about 250 are currently enrolled in the PhD program.

The 185 highly qualified faculties, with 104 holding PhD degrees from leading Universities of international repute are presently serving at the University of Agriculture Peshawar.

The University has also developed collaborations with USAID, USDA, GEF, ICIMOD, SDC, JAICA, SRSP, PARC and NARC to provide international exchange of curriculum and other development programs in the field of agriculture.

History:

The history begins with the establishment of the College of in 1957 as a constituent college of Agriculture. In 1974, the college was upgraded as a Faculty of Agriculture under the University of Peshawar. It got its autonomous standing as an independent university in 1981.

Infrastructure:

The infrastructure of the university is enormous and unique. University campus was designed by the famous architecture company, Denver, CO office of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. The present Government through Higher Education Commission (HEC) has been providing great financial aid to The University. The HEC has allocated for about 13 billion rupees for the next 15 years. This year the mega project for Rs. 500 million to the HEC will be granted to Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa Agricultural University to develop

Very soon a big Sports Complex, student services center and sports grounds will also be available for the students.
