Kashmir issue is the one of the biggest and most important dispute between Pakistan and India since the emergence of Pakistan. When the partition plan was under consideration it was decided by the people of Kashmir would decide whether they want to join India or Pakistan but people of Kashmir never given opportunity to show their will and India attacked on Kashmir in 1948. Kashmir has three major ethnic areas: Ladakh in the northwest, which is majority Buddhist; the Kashmir Valley (controlled by India) and the part now controlled by Pakistan, which is majority Muslim, and Jammu (in the south), which is majority Hindu. The overall majority is Muslim.

Every year Kashmir Solidarity Day observed all over the world on 5th February. Observing this day indicates the renewal of the pledge to provide moral political and diplomatic support for the legitimate freedom movement of Kashmiri people which has been denied by Indian government since last 63 years.

Photo Exhibition

In Pakistan as well as in the whole world there are lots of event held on 5th February to show the solidarity with occupied valley and people of Kashmir. In Lahore, several political and religious parties took rallies all the day from different places but at the same time there is another very unique and distinctive event of 3 day “Voice of Kashmir, Peace” photo exhibition held to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day. In the exhibition there are up to 400 pictures were placed which showed the inhumane behavior of Indian forces on the innocent and unarmed Kashmiri people in the occupied valley. This photo exhibition was organized by Unified Media Club of Pakistan, which is a forum of young enthusiastic journalists.

Kashmiri’s are struggling for freedom having Pakistani flag in their hands, said Mahmood Riaz Information and Cultural Minister of Azad Jammu & Kashmir while inaugurating the photo exhibition. He further added that this photo exhibition told the world as well as India that due to Indian encroachment in occupied valley India can’t be a permanent member of Security Counsel.

Rana Mashood Ahmed Deputy Speaker of Punjab Assemble, famous columnist Orya Maqbool Jan and many other famous personalities and politicians visit the photo exhibition and appreciated the effort of Unified Media Club of Pakistan.

Kashmiri Freedom Movement

There are lots of people in Pakistan who think that Pakistani nation just block the roads on 5th February to show their solidarity with Kashmiri people that is not a good way but now we can see that Unified Media Club brought a new idea of showing solidarity to Kashmiri brothers. This is the era of democracy and media development and if we want to communicate our problem or issue to international society and win their trust and favor we should select a very unique and heart touching way of communication. Photos showing the misery and innocence of Kashmiri people are very effective and professional way to communicate the international community.
