Ingredients for making Pakistan

"Why do we have to blame our people, our leaders, our country, why cant we once and for all blame ourselves and see what we can do for our country, why cant we just pass on a bit of our ambition to our friends"

6O years have passed and what made-up Pakistan 60 years ago is what makes up Pakistan even now. Pakistan consists of three main classes of people. The high class or the elites. This class includes people of different kinds mostly landlords who own acres of land in the rural areas. Others include industrialists, politicians etc.

The second class is the middle class and can be broken down into the lower and the higher middle class. The higher middle class is made up of people who have worked really hard to achieve what they have achieved. These include doctors, bankers, businessmen and they are usually well off. The lower middle class includes people who earn a reasonable living .The lower class consists of poor labors, vendors, etc.

Often when we look at other countries like Malaysia a dozen questions pop up. This is the reason why.

Malaysia for example achieved independence from the United Kingdom on August 31 , 1957. Singapore, Sarawak, British North Borneo and the Federation of Malaysia joined to form Malaysia in 1957.However the federation spent its early years fighting with Indonesia resulting in the separation of Singapore. But then instead of fighting over the past the country spent the years later marching towards progress. Between the 1980s and the mid 1990s, Malaysia experienced significant economic growth under the premiership of Ton Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad. The countries economy changed from an agro-based to one with a broad base which includes the manufacturing industry as the major industry .Many mega projects were initiated during these years which included the Petronas Twin Towers (at the time the tallest building in the world), KL International Airport (KLIA), North-South Expressway, the Sepang F1 Circuit, the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC), the Bakun hydroelectric dam and Putrajaya, a new federal administrative capital. It experienced rapid economic growth in the late 20th century and is considered as one of the major exporters of tin, rubber, palm oil and timber of the world .The tourism industry is another booming industry in the region and is likely to earn for the country a great amount of revenue as foreign exchange as countries like the US and the Uk make their visa policies more rigid for tourists.

Now let’s look at our Pakistan. Pakistan was born on the 14th of august 1947 largely as a result of some hard and sincere efforts by people like Muhammad Ali Jinnah , Allama Iqbal , Liaquat ALi khan and many more. However some major problems like that involving India concerning Kashmir have, to date remain unresolved. Leaders come and go and in each and everyone's regime" there is immense economic development and each and every regime is extremely prosperous for the country and extremely loved by everyone" except the government that succeeds the past government, which terms the past leaders as corrupt and selfish.

This is what the people making up the three different classes are like. The elites have everything from power to money and the government policies are also in their favor as a result of which there is hardly any opposition from this class. On the other hand there is the lower class. Now, although I exhibit my greatest sympathies with these people due to the conditions they live in but these people have really not played their part. There is hardly any one from this class showing adequate ambition to move forward. Maybe it’s the frustration and the inadequate facilities provided to them. In India for example Lakmie Mittal has made it in the list for the top 10 richest people of the world. His father was an extremely poor person but it was due to his ambition and hard work that he went on to establish his steel industry. I have seen the servants in our houses and I fail to find any ambition in them. They have television sets and cable, they watch the stupid Indian dramas but what they cannot afford to do is to send third children to school.

Now let’s come to the middle class. I know that many efforts have been done to fight for justice, progress and for women rights and I really appreciate them but why hasn’t there been a change? Maybe these efforts haven’t been enough. The middle class have access to many facilities However many prefer to stay ignorant. Even if they are aware of things going around in their surroundings all they do is to sit in their drawing rooms and swear at politicians, talk about how bad the traffic is becoming (not knowing how religiously they themselves follow traffic rules), talk bout how corrupt the system is (not knowing that they themselves promote this corruption), and they all conclude that Pakistan is not a good place to live in and END OF STORY!!!!!!

They don’t understand the importance of having an identity, a home. We should look at the people of Palestine and that of Kashmir who have been fighting since God knows when but all they have managed to achieve is, making it to the headlines in everyday news and to provide a topic to debate on, in annual conferences but except this, nothing substantial.

My point is that people WAKEUP!!! I mean haven’t we had too much of this non sense!! Why do we have to blame our people, our leaders, our country, why cant we once and for all blame ourselves and see what we can do for our country, why cant we just pass on a bit of our ambition to our friends. There is a dire need for us, Pakistanis to make ourselves responsible citizens of Pakistan to just work hard and not think about the consequence, to not be scared of moving forward and to fight for our rights. Pakistan has the potential to develop and to move so much forward provided that its citizens become a little more mature and hand the country to some responsible, educated personnels. Pakistan has beautiful mountains towards the north and hill stations like nathia galli and murree make it the most awsum tourist spot .These, together with the historical monuments in Lahore can earn Pakistan a good amount as foreign exchange. Pakistan has ports in karachi and Gwadar which , if developed to thier truest potential , can promote the air and water transportation industry . It can also promote trade, economic activities, foreign investments and influx of personnel from outside, thus promoting the local industries and providing more employment to the locals. Lands in sindh and Punjab are extremely fertile and some of the world’s most tasty fruits and vegetables can be grown here. They can also be exported. Thus agriculture, if made better can increase Pakistani exports and provide raw materials for the manufacturing industry. So many loans from various organizations have been taken and I don’t know what has been done out of it. This money if used for industrialization can contribute significantly to a booming economy, promote employment and improve Pakistanis exports and it can play a more competitive role in the international market with a broad based economy. All this proves that Pakistan has amazing potential to develop provided that we act more sensibly!! Therefore there is an urgent need for us to make a change, be it as small as donating 5 rupees to a charitable educational institute and so there is a need to make some alteration to the recipe for making Pakistan!!!
